Yang was one of those who went far away from their homes to seek Truth. On his way to visit a famous master, he stopped at a teahouse and began chatting with an old monk.
“Where are you going?” the monk asked.
“I am going to see the famous teacher, Master Boundless,” answered Yang.
The old monk chuckled. “Why travel all the way to see Master Boundless when you can meet Buddha directly?”
Yang was startled. “Where may I find Buddha?” he asked.
“Go home,” answered the old monk. “You will see Buddha greeting you once you are back. Buddha will be the one wrapped in a blanket and had shoes on backwards. ”
Yang followed the old monk’s words and returned home. It was in the middle of a cold, snowy night when he arrived. He knocked on the door in anticipation. Soon, the door swung open and a figure appeared behind it.
It was his old mother standing at the door. She was so happy to hear his son’s knocks that, in a hurry, she rolled out of her bed with her blankets, put on the shoes backwards, and rushed out to open the door.
B: An act from true love and connection is a manifestation of Buddha.
